Two of the greatest political leaders of the last century...we've learned so much from both.  But if you had to choose....!

That is not fair.
Do you prefer a hero who will confirm your deepest fears? Or a hero who will inspire faith in humanity and goodness?

Love Malcolm X as well but he does not have a holiday.

That depends on where you live.  Growing up in ESL we always had Macolm X's birthday off from school way before MLK got his holiday.

As for the choice, well, damn.  All right, umm, (Engine, Engine number 9...):

I'll go with that, and call it a draw. Thanks for clarifying, Geoff.

I alwats felt like had I been alive and beyond adolesence when they were both prominent, I would have been down with King in the day and Malcolm at night.  They both hold great significance to me,I can't choose.  They both taught great things to black people at a critical time.
I ventured into the courtyard followed by 52 brothers bruised battered and scarred but hard.

Malcolm decisively and without any doubt or hesitation.Malcolm encouraged peace, and he encouraged education,solidarity,respect...but he INSISTED that BROTHAS NOT BE PUNKS.I guarantee you,if those racists turned water hoses on me,I'd wet them up right back...Tech 9 style.

Gotta roll with Martin on this one.  Peaceful advance is the only way to combat agressive hatred

It's certainly the ideal to aim for, but I think Malcolm's motto, if taken literally, is best: "By all means necessary." If self-defence or violent acts arent necessary, then you don't do them, but if they are made necessary by your opponent's actions (as Martin was supposedly coming to believe towards the end of his life), then, but only then, do you leave peaceful protest behind.

I respect both and have learned from both men's teachings. But if I HAD to choose one, I would pick Malcom.

Rest in Peace, Brother. You are sorely missed.
