OK guys, this is the hardest choice, because you can only make one choice . i don't want to read answers like this :'' my favorite is miller's sin city and moore's promethea and hudlin's ...'' no!!!!! this is the hardest choice and you can only choose one comic. 
by one comic i mean, you can choose a single issue ( for example animal man #7 by morrison ), a story arc ( for example black panther issues 1-6 by Hudlin ) or an entire run from one writer ( for example superman 1-50 by Byrne ) understood?? alright , here i come:

the best comic i've ever read till now is:

Damn, that's a genuinely hard one. trying to think about it: Which comic have I worn out, and maybe had to replace from just re-reading it over and over? AH!

Worlds Collide #1, the Milestone / DC crossover. Superman vs. Blood Syndicate, Static, Superboy and Rocket teaming up, the nerdy mailman being transformed into a pan-dimensional psycho-god, writing by Dwayne McDuffie, and art by Dc & milestone's finest? Yeah, I re-read that one comic so many times, it may fall apart if I take it out of it's bag now.

Not sure- maybe X-Men Graphic Novel from the 80s...."God Loves, Man Kills" by Chris Claremont. Or his "Days of Future Past"...intense.

spiderman v/s wolverine by jim owsly now known as christopher priest. me and  my friends almost came to blows over who won the fight. you know you wrote a good book when 12 year olds spend the better part of an afternoon dissecting panel by panel of you book.

The first 16 issues of Icon.

And it barely beat out the first 12 issues of Static, Blood Syndicate, and Hardware.

Yeah, I put them above Miller's Daredevil, and Claremont's mutants.  I empathized with those guys, but I actually gave a damn about the folks in Dakota.

Answering via cell in the car, so I can't give you the precise issue. The one issue I remember years later that still blows me away... Uncanny X-Men, Psylocke vs Sabretooth round two.

I have no clue why. I'm not a fan of Lobell's writing, but when I read that one, it just hit me in the gut. That issue alone made Sabretooth one of my all-time favorite villains.
