He's listed as a just an inch taller than Silva and their reach is about the same.  Forrest is going to have to use his size to try to wear Silva down and control the pace of the fight, but the danger is exactly what you said:  The Thai Clinch.  I don't think Forrest has much of a chance at range with Silva, the difference in technique is way too great.

Bottom line? I see Silva outstriking Forrest. I think the wrestling and gnp might be an issue here,but I give Anderson the advantage in what I think would be a very interesting display of skill.

And this will be an excellent fight because Forrest IS dangerous. He walks around at 240,so...like most LHWs nowadays...he's REALLY a HW. This will be a good challenge for Anderson,but I see Silva winning. If Anderson comes in firing? He should stop a still dangerous Forrest.

Forrest is gonna want to do what GSP did with BJ Penn:  Lean on him and make him carry his weight which is the only real advantage Forrest has.  But yeah Spider isn't going to let Forrest outwork him like he did Rampage, and Forrest's striking is way too basic to compete with a genius like Anderson Silva.  It doesn't look good for Griffin

Am I the only to notice that Anderson Silva has introduced a number of shocking firsts to the UFC over the last two fights? The SAME two fights he'd been heavily criticized for? Against Patrick Cote,Anderson did capoeira's ginga...and snapped Patrick's head back with a straight left in the process.He's regularly implementing the surprising capoeira kicks--like his rear leg diagonal trip kick which he unveiled against Thales Leites which tripped him up--and Anderson flows regularly from southpaw to orthodox while applying creative strikes like standing elbows to the open guard. He channelled Lyoto Machida in the third and fourth round v Thales...stance,feints,and all...and confused Joe Rogan and other ole dude Mike Goldberg in the process.He also unveiled the switch front kick,as Lyoto regularly uses the low-high double roundhouse kick.

Btw..a few relatively recent issues of note that I want to comment on.Regarding Roy Jones and MMA? Don't believe that crap about the UFC and STRIKEFORCE not wanting to damage MMA by bringing in Roy.The UFC and STRIKEFORCE are all about the money and ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to pay our MMA warriors what they should be paid. If Roy fights Anderson? Not only will Roy be making a minimal $4 million,but Anderson will be making his first million,and that will lead to the MMA guys insisting on a more equitable payday too. Secondly,I am absolutely of the opinion that Dana's gonna try to get Anderson and Lyoto fighting.Thirdly,what do u all think of Anderson v Vitor Belfort,should Anderson get passed Forrest? And lastly...I do NOT want Anderson wrecking...er,FIGHTING...GSP if GSP gets by Thiago (I'm really a light heavyweight) Alves this month.Thoughts?

I have been a fan of Vitor since he debuted in the UFC. His annihilation of Lindland( By one of the most frightening KO's ever!) shows that he is ready to return to the UFC.

I would love to see a sight with the phenom vs Silva.

Welll...first off,I would like to make a clarification: My wish to see the return of Anderson's horrifying Muay Thai clinch is a wish I knew was unlikely to be fulfilled even as I posted it,because Anderson has long parted ways with the man who championed Muay Thai in his training camp and taught that fearsome plum (clinch) to Anderson...i.e. Diogenes Assahida. So the chances are excellent that we won't see that horrific wrecking machine of a clinch game back...although I'd like to see it.

Instead,we may have to settle for the dismantling we saw when Anderson essentially one punch cold cocked James Irvin...cuz Anderson's current coach was his head striking coach leading up to that event AND Anderson's annihilation of Hendo.I expect Anderson v Forrest to be fireworks.

And yes,I'd like to see Vitor v Anderson too...the potential is there for fight of the year,if not the fight of MMA history.

Bringin the info as always, but from my observation, the disappearance of the clinch has to do with the fact nobody is going to let themself be the next Rich Franklin.  He actually went for the clinch a couple times against Leites and Leites flopped out of it everytime.  But thinking in mid post he did used to be ALOT more aggressive in sinking in the clinch.  It used to be in his primary attack in his cage rage fights.
