Reggie or Dwayne!
« on: May 15, 2009, 08:35:29 pm »
To keep this fair we will leave out movies and executive positions in the industry and focus on comic books and animation.

Reggie - The Black Panther reboot which now includes an animated show on BET. The wedding of the century which got major coverage and fanbratti backlash. The subtle reshaping of the whole Marvel universe via Wakanda. A notable Spiderman gig and Bebe's kids.

Dwayne - Milestone Media. Ben 10 and The Justice League. Black Panther arm bar on the Silver Surfer. Arguably the first name in black writers and creators in comics.

Two Titans in the industry so keep it clean and easy on the negatives. Show your respects.

So in your opinion who is... THAT DUDE!

Right now, an ol' school friend o' mine lend me his Flash Gordon, the complete series on DVD which was once a Saturday morning (afternoon, actually) cartoon show.
I'm impressed with how little the animation studio, Filmation had to work with to produce so many interesting stories, and at the same time make some innovative if not creative,  visual advances in the medium.

If Titmouse, Inc. can get the animated Black Panther project to be equal or better than the level of the vintage Flash gordon series from Filmation, then the Hard Choices really ain't that 'hard' between Mr. Hudlin & Mr. McDuffie...
...'cause I cannot stand that cryptic, psuedo-anime lookin', bruce timm sh*t!

Seriously. >:(

Sorry, Ben 10 and the Justice league.  Great scripting, awful animation.
Sorry, JLA. Great stories, hardly any 'super' leverage.

You have to also take into consideration that these two are not absolutely in control of their projects.

Sure I would love to see their projects done in a Dreamworks or Pixar style of big budget tent pole promotion but for what they have done with the obstacles faced you do not want to dishonor them totally.

If I had the billions of dollars to spare I would lock the two in an undisclosed studio with nothing but bread and water and all the top animation software, computers and an animation strike team to assemble those massive 3D fully rendered realistic looking masterpieces!

Then I would execute... I mean ban all the bean counters from interfering with what only creators should be doing in the first place.

I would allow fanbratti in the studio only as passing amusement but not as true consultants.

Now get back in that thread and vote!

What the hell kind of poll is this?

To keep this fair we will leave out movies and executive positions in the industry and focus on comic books and animation.

How is this "fair"? D-Mac has done more of the latter and Reggie has done more of the former. What kind of balance is it? None at all. Even if you had left it in, you're still comparing apples and oranges. All you're doing is comparing black men in different parts of the entertainment industry.

It's like comparing Oprah to Angela Bassett and saying "acting counts, but Harpo Productions don't."

The only CORRECT answer here is "Yes, Flex, those pants make your ass look enormous. Sir Mixalot is drooling all over you."

So what you are saying is that The Black Panther is not comparable to what Dwayne did?

So then your vote is for Dwayne then right!

See how easy that was!

Perhaps you should focus more on the works of these men and make a comparison based on what you know of each and how maybe one could catch up with the other.

You could even site facts about what each means to the comic book genre in a more expressive and sincere voice.

This is called HARD CHOICES which means that apples could be compared to oranges if the question was favorite fruit!

Now let's try that again.

You like Reggie because...

or

You like Dwayne because...

Don't try that bullsh*t with me.

There has to be a basis for comparison. You skewed it.

It is pretty hard to shape this into a workable Hard Choice in my view. I think Reggie would say that Dwayne is an inspiration, role model, and mentor to him as a comic book creator. The body of work imbalance is the main thing here.
"Seek first to understand, then to be understood."
"Be hard on systems, but soft on people."

Reggie is a humble dude and all but that is all a front just like Wayne Brady on The Dave Chappelle Show.

Reggie X: "You got my Milestone money?"

Dwayne: "Man I've been busy with Ben10, Justice League..."

Reggie X: "What's that got to do with my money?"

Denys Cowan: "Come on REG... stall em out. Give em a pass."

Reggie X: "Did you say something?"

Denys Cowan: "My bad!"

Reggie X: "Did you kiss the pinky ring?"

Dwayne: "I aint with that. I paid my dues up in this. show me some respect."

Reggie X: "Respect?"

Dwayne: "Yeah man. I helped built this black super hero thang from the ground up. We CMB... we all we got! Am I my brothas keeper?"

Reggie: "You didn't just go New Jack City on me. OH YEAH... KING KONG AINT GOT NOTHING ON ME!"

Denys Cowan: "I'm outta here you dudes is trippin"

On the next TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY... Reggie X!

A behind the scenes look at one of Hollywood's most notorious closet black militant extortionist. The acts of violence and intimidation.

Interviews with Kid n Play who were "SMACKED AROUND" for messing up lines on the set of House Party and how even the mighty Full Force were in fear for their lives.

The drinking binges, the partying and them A-list women all up in the directors trailer trying to get more screen time. The secret relationship with a married Storm between the panels of the critically acclaimed Black Panther arc.

Reggie X is the Suge Knight of the comic book genre! LMAO!

(Have I TROLLED too far on this one?)

-- at the Detroit comic-con, I got to chat for a minute with Mr. McDuffie— he liked my public enemy shirt.. he signed some comics for me, i told him Icon was my favorite out of the Milestone heroes.. and he says he’s trying to get more Milestone characters animated, but it’s a challenge (I guess with WB studios?), and Milestone-comics high quality TPBs are in the works, very soon!
(if I hadn't been a nervous twit, I would have remembered I had a camera on me)

I first thought this thread was about "What's Happening?"
