Best thing about your job?
« on: September 15, 2006, 12:55:12 AM »
I just realised that, as much as I dislike my job, I do get a childish snigger every time I fill out a requisition for '500 brass nipples'.

Pathetic, I know, but we take what enjoyment we can. Also, internet access, and my friend in another office who I share chats with where we try to come up with ever-greater insults with every line.
But mainly it's all about the brass nipples.

Anyone else?

with my old job rarley did i have boring days. well let me say rather that one day might be boring as h*ll and i can pretty much do what ever i wanted you know sham, bo on here, go do what i do. other days could be filled with a suicidal/homicidal 16 year old who is having flashbacks trying her best to whoop up the staff so that she can leave the facility and do a line or two. :o. so i guess some of you all say whats so good about that? :-\ hey it's a rough job sombody has to do it. ;)

in fact i laugh when i described my old line of work people would say "aww that's special. you work with "special" kids." "man thats great, i admire that it takes a special person to work with those umm special kids. gee, thanks. then i would say to myself wait a minute did that m/f just call me crazy? they did say i work with 'special" kids and it would take a "special"person to do what i do and they couldnt do it. :-\ . lol. yea then i decide they are right i am a crazy m/f and thats the only reason i have been able to do this for ten years. well now i get to train others about how "special" they are. lol.

Best thing about my current job is that it is not my last job.  :)

Do it NOW!!!  Don't wait 10 years.  Don't put limits on yourself.  I started my eBay thing in 1999 and planned on
quitting working by a certain date.  And even though I was making more than enough money from the business
to sustain myself it was very scarey to let go of my regular paycheck when the time came.  But I left the fulltime
job and it was the best thing I've ever done.  After I quit the job it took me almost two years just to get out of
rush mode.

(Rush Mode:  When you're constantly rushing around from the time you wake up until you lay back down trying
to be at other people's beck and call.  Rushing to shower, to eat, racing your car to get there on time, etc.
And never getting enough sleep.  I used to wake up still tired and got up and went all day anyway.)

Now I have time to cook my food and actually eat it.  Work on projects that interest me.  Associate with people
of my choice.  Take long hot bubble baths, which I did before anyway but now I can do it extra long.  I can go
shopping, run errands, travel, or do whatever my heart desires.  And I can take naps.  And it's PRICELESS!!!

Even though it's not as easy as it sounds (I forgot to mention that I actually have to WORK!!!), sometimes
you've just got to try something different.  Life really is very very short.  And you only go around once.

Perhaps.  Obviously it's important to be financially responsible, but I don't believe perfect credit is a requirement.
Yes, if you're going to buy a McDonald's franchise and you must pass their stringent application process.  Nor is
it essential to have an MBA and you don't need to be tall, dark and handsome - but it wouldn't hurt.  Oftentimes
we place unnecessary obstacles before ourselves.  If perfect conditions were required no one would have ever
started any business at all.  I've had other businesses but back in 1999 Beanie Babies were all the rage at eBay
but I didn't have any and so I started selling my McDonald's Happy Meal Teenie Beanie collection.  And people
bought them because they were limited production items.  Basically started with nothing.  I'll chat with you one
day about my business model.  It's really not that complicated and easily duplicated.

I know, but I thought I'd stick my nose in it anyways. I would at least like to be doing something like that part-time by my mid to late twenties when I'm on the start of my career. That's if things go according to plan.
