Ended my Father's Day at a great show.
Raphael is a great performer and a hell of an artist. He's ignoring his previous body of work and only performing songs from his new album, which is a recreation of the 60s sound. I wish he had worked in his whole body of work, which he could have done era by era (60s, 70s, 80s and today) with costume changes, etc.
Santigold (Santogold? slight name change) is insane. Very 80s punk/new wave, with a Brooklyn (hip hop/reggae) edge. Great personality, dope dancers, great sound. She's going to be a MAJOR artist.
Femi wasn't on fire like the last two times I saw him. But there was an amazing lyric that bears repeating: "why is the richest continent on Earth the poorest Continent on Earth?".
