....and did anyone catch Leno pressing Kanye's buttons last night?

Yeah I watched it, it was truly bizarre. He should have just said he was drunk and left it at that. Matter fact he should'a bypassed Jay Leno all together and gone straight to Dr. Phil. The whole thing is fishy...it's been reported he apologized twice. Taylor Swift says she hasn't done it once. It's been said he left the show on his own accord, and also that he was asked to leave by MTV. Supposedly Obama even called him a "jackass" off the record, but there's no proof. I don't know what to believe and I don't care anymore.

Triple X:  <<Supposedly Obama even called him a "jackass" off the record, but there's no proof. >>

I heard the audio of the President saying it on the radio.

The news is apologizing (hmm, a theme) for releasing the off-the-record comment.  (Though really is anything a President said off-the-record?)

Kanye may have some emotional disturbance or something, but that brutha needs to be dealt with!
On HLN, I heard one of the commentators express SURPRISE that urban radio stations DID NOT CONDONE Kanye's actions.

WTF?

They really think Black folks don't recognize STUPIDITY?

I think the expectation may have been that support would've been divided along genre lines. The Urban radio stations would support the rapper against the country artist.

In all honesty, I don't think Kanye should've apologized.

There are things that you do in life that you can't correct with an apology and stripping Swift of all of her youthful enthusiasm and joy in front of millions is one of them.

No matter what his catalog may be; Kanye West is a rapper and in the minds of many that equals thug and he attacked Country Barbie. You can't win.

Kanye should'gve just eaten the ridicule and scorn from the newscycle which would've lasted 3 days at best and keep it moving.

I suspect the radio stations were playing the race card, quite simply.  The average listener fails to distinguish "race" from "demographic" anyway.

Personally, I always felt that one shouldn't apologize to correct something, but to to ask for forgiveness.  Seems to me, a sign of maturity would have been to apologize regardless of whether it bought any goodwill or not...

I think he should also apologize to Beyounce'.  He embarrased her and basically denied her the full-attention of her award.

She showed her class by how she handled things, but he put her in a spot she didn't need to be in.

Beyonce was coming off of this whole thing looking pretty good...but now I am pretty sure she is crazy.

No, he was just acting like an idiot, which is pretty much par for the course when Kanye is involved.

Am I the only one who sees a link here between this and Kanye's 'George Bush' moment? I think the guy seems to have a desparate need to speak out against injustices, and seems bafflingly unable to add any sense of proportion - George Bush's mangled handling of the Katrina crisis vs. the VMAs - we all know which is more important). Either that, or he was just too damn drunk.

Give me a break!

Beyonce showed just as much class in her comments toward Kanye as she did allowing Swift her time in the limelight.

Beyonce was compassionate enough to recognize that she didn't need her name added to the avalanche of criticism thrown at Kanye during the past few weeks.

She would have been better off not saying a thing about Kanye.  Kanye is a moron.  Beyonce saying he was standing up for art may have been classy but it was also a very silly thing to say and I can't believe she was able to say it with a straight face.

That's exactly what he was doing..."standing up for art" and his mentor/boss' wife. Is he an egomaniac? Yeah. Was he drunk as Cooter Brown? Yeah. Would he have said the same thing sober? Probably.
