Super Hero Squad!
« on: September 18, 2009, 10:13:29 PM »
Watched two episodes today and I think Marvel's plan to indoctrinate a new generation of young super heroes may just work.

Storm and Falcon were in it and Luke Cage has a small cameo but he does not say or do anything.

It looks like fun for the kids so I won't complain about the watered down versions of each character.

My son liked it so he is looking forward to the games release in October.

It is campy on purpose so deal with it for what it is.

good show for the younger kids, though, I have to confess that when I was coming up, bathroom-function derived jokes in 'toons just weren't in the mix.. heh.. I hope they don't go overboard with it and try to come up with some other gags, look to classic Looney Toons, etc...

It seems like this is a 'perfect' excuse to showcase pretty much all of the 1950's Timely/Atlas giant monsters, intact with the insane names..

Looks like Falcon is a main character-- score!!  and a neener-neener to the fanboys who are already complaining.. ("Falcon doesn't do anything in the comics.. and he gets a co-star role here, above Cap?!?")

I saw a nonspeaking Power Man cameo (classic outfit- cool).. I'm hoping there are more appearances from him and the other black heroes, no doubt..

i saw the sneak peek episodes of this show on Thursday...i just couldn't bring myself to create a thread.

it is soooo not my cup of tea.
i'm soooooo far away from their target audience... but i hope the youngsters like it.

and t'challa is voiced by taye diggs.

but seeing MODOK gettin' hated on....funny.

Listen to my entertaining radio show, "The Takeover: Top 20 Countdown" at www.top20takeover.VVCRadio.com.

I thought it was cute and funny 4 the kids. Can't take this too seriously....Ms. Marvel comes off  like she's stuck up and angry...Storm had some scenes and she pushes Thor on his ass. I noticed every hero had large legs and feet....whatever...This show is very kiddy :) I hope the youngsters like it....maybe this will lead Marvel to finally make a good Avengers cartoon geared towards an older audience.

From articles I've read, (also one on Newsarama), the show apparently has a priority target of boys aged 4 - 7; by this, I can only presume that girl viewers are secondary; I can't say I agree with this; anyway, in an interview with one of the show's producers, he freely admits that Carol is set up as a semi-foil, serving as the 'angry boss' role in the show, I guess..
..I've read that the show character design, aside from the toys, is at least partially inspired by the anime' style of Chibi.. I have no personal familiarity with this, but it does have a Wiki entry..
... Since Sony has recently relented on the exclusive TV-depiction rights to Spider-Man, hopefully he will be in some future seasons..
confirmed black heroes- Falcon, Storm, Nick Fury (yes, ultimate version), Power Man, Misty Knight, Jim Rhodes, black panther; villains- Thunderball
... and wait-- where is the mini-Pulsar?  I think I'll poke around for some fan-depictions..

Just bought the graphic novel for my son and he liked it.
