Are you thinking of Flint? (I think that's her name.)

Or are you thinking of Jakita Wagner of Planetary, (the daughter of a Tarzan Clone and woman from a secret high tech African society.). I think Jakita is closer, in power, and personally a more interesting character.  (Of course, Flint has never had a chance to be unique.)

Neither. There was a secret team of supeheroes led by John Cumberland (Superman ripoff). African Amazon was a member. But since they were all killed by Bendix and Stormwatch there never was a follow-up to her character.

Once I found out Jakita's back story, she was super interesting.  Wish we spent more time on her with that history in mind.

I'm sure Ellis will write more stories when he gets the chance. The last issue of Planetary was worth the wait. Too bad Jakita is not the brains of the team. I wonder what her German foster parents were like. Until then I'm enjoying his FreakAngels. The best stuff I've read since Akira.

Question, before her mother was revealed, did you know Jakita was Black (or bi-racial)?  Until the origin, I thought she was Italian or Greek.

No, I didn't know.  Did the artist?  Her hair seems mighty straight for a bi-racial woman.  What does it take to perm the hair of a super powered being?

It's possible...but supposedly Planetary's story is done.

Doubt it. She's pretty Aryan-looking.

I'm pretty sure that the Artist was given a desription to draw something like "Emma Peel with superpowers"

So she was the "defender of Africa"? really? wow that is just just sad that a writer comes up with that garbage of a story. What makes things worse is that the "blogger" was complaining about young bad effort with a comment of : " how can a black man screw up her story" that was pretty much his/her argument.

Anywho Kudos to the effort you have placed Hudlin for the creation of Shuri

I hope Gail uses her. If I had my way Gail would have had Dinah stay in BOP instead of losing her to JLA and had Vixen as well. Canary, Vixen, Shiva and Huntress with Barbara of course.

Hopefully that won't happen. Gail needs to stay as far away from Nubia as possible. She already turned Wonder Woman into a confused guest star in her own book.
