They should have scrapped the psycho babble in the cliché ending and just stuck to the conspiracy theory angle.

I saw it.
Am a HUGE fan of Di Caprio. But Hated this movie.
Too long. Predictable. Fell asleep on it twice.
Extremely disappointed with the story-line.

I agree, I love Scorsese and I've grown to like DiCaprio but this movie was an absolute mess, just all over the place.
So, can either of you tell me which it was...was he a cop or was it an elaborate game disguised as treatment?

It was an experimental treatment.
Maybe in the novel format the story was great, but on the big screen it was just boring. The problem was that there were too many things crammed into the movie. The scenes with Leonardo and the warden were totally unnecessary.
