Back to weight loss, I have back tracked a bit.  As my social life got better be diet got worse.  But I am attempting to get back on the wagon with the new weight watchers point system that started this week.  The old system got me going the first time so I am hoping the new one can light the fire again!

New Year fresh start for me.

Once my daughter goes back to school I will start with a bootcamp a few mornings a week in snowy Ca, and maybe Zumba classes for cardio.

whatever you guys do, just stick to your routine even when you get frustrated. Sticking to your routine is the best way to get results, no matter what your routine is. Just stick to it. Somehow I managed to stay on mine for four years, and I've even gotten stricter with the new body, but ultimately staying the course is what brings you success.

What people don't tell you is its f*cking hard. Hardest thing you will ever do, but worth it.

With the new year, I thought I'd bring this back!

In 2009, I was a machine and dropped 70 lbs in 6 months.  Felt and looked great.  But in July of 2009 I also started meeting more people, getting a social life, and finding my place in DC.  Sadly, over the next 2 1/2 years I've put back on all of that weight.  It mostly had to do with the drinking and late night eating.  My friends are a good six years younger than me and are still in post college mode.

Yesterday I officially got back on track.  I've purchased an elliptical for my condo.  In 2009, I was using the elliptical for 40 minutes 4-5 times a week and it worked.  But that was when I had the gym at work that was free and I could go on my lunch break.  These days my problem has been actually paying for the expensive gyms in DC and then actually going to the gym.  With the elliptical in my house, I don't have to worry about that.

I'm also back on weight watchers, which really worked great for me last time.  But like anything, it only works if you put in the effort and stick to it.  Each sensibly.  Spoil myself from time to time, but don't make it a regular habit.  For the first 6 months of 2009 I did just that and the results were tremendous!

We all reach the point when enough is enough and it's time for a change.  That's where I am now and I can't wait to have the days pass by and lose the weight, this time for good.

Is anyone else starting a serious diet for the new year?  I'd love to have a Hudlin Weight Loss Team, where we can give each other support and share our stories/ideas.

One thing I would suggest is a Dietician. If you have health insurance, your physician can refer you. A Dietician can help you set up a Meal Plan(NOT a diet). Try it, if you can. Best of luck to you.

That is great in what you suggested JLI. Currently I've been hitting the weights since Jan 2011 and haven't stopped yet. Yes it is "hard" but NEWSFLASH it not supposed to be easy. If it was everyone would do it. It is about discipline and dedication. The one thing I don't like is the excuse making of "I have kids" "my schedule". When it boils down to it, it is your health and your health should be a high priority just as much as your kids, your work schedule, or anything in your life. This is a lifestyle commitment not some "new years resolution" many are on right now. Seriously if you cannot commit to this for the rest of your life just stop right now.

What is 45 mins 3 days a week? Nothing. That is all you need for a proper workout. If you're a beginner you can do 2 days a week. But honestly if you expect results in 3 months you wont really see much of anything. 3 days is the best optimal way to get results.

Finally please by means have a plan and goal. For example "I want to bench my weight within 3 months" (not realistic honestly but just saying).
With these choices, I felt that the American black man only needed to choose which one to get eaten by; the liberal fox or the conservative wolf because both of them will eat him.

I think that's what people have to realize.  You don't have to run 10 miles a day or work out for several hours every day.  A little bit, when done correctly, goes a long way.

Just started a 21 day cleanse today.
Expect to get back on track with Boot Camp that starts next week.

Just be careful on those cleanses at times it can make things worse. One time my broker flat out collasped on the floor.
