Was late buying and just caught up on reading .....

Ultimate Spider Man #6 was very good and can't wait for the pay off between the lead character and his uncle.

X-Factor # 230 was just an excellent character driven issue that featured Wolverine in a cool pose on the cover and brought some old problems back to the fore like Siryn's pregancy, Monet's religious beliefs, Rahne's history with X Force and even ushered in Havok and Polaris.

Woverine and The XMen # 4 is a very good read right now with some very good art.  The humor is fantastic and the pace is solid.  Kitty Pryde is being written like a grown up version of Claremont's creation in the late 70s/early 80s.

Aqua Man #5 might be the pick of the week with some excellent character moments and hints at the pending saga of how Atlantis fell from grace (foreshadowing).  And the art just gets better and better.

WALKING DEAD #93 is a great start to a new storyline.

ULTIMATES #6 gives Sam Wilson wonderful shine.  One of the best characters in the UMU.

ULTIMATE SPIDER MAN #6 keeps getting more compelling, as was said above.

PUNISHER MAX #22....So satisfying....the death of a gang of major characters.  I only wish this was in regular continuity.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #8 - Brubaker does his thing, and Alan Davis art is a delight.

THIEF OF THIEVES #1 - Good book;  funny timing given the lawsuit

PEANUTS #2 - good all ages comic.  Can't get my daughter into it;  maybe this one will work....

VERTIGO PREVIEW - yay, Dominuqe Laveau!  Interesting that almost all the protagonists are female.  Vertigo clearly connects with female readers.

DARK HORSE PRESENTS #8 - Lotsa good stuff here.

DAREDEVIL #8 - Read this crossover story...good in Spidey, great in Daredevil.  Waid is doing quiet great work in this series.

X FORCE #21 - Damn good book continues to be one.

Punisher Max...a decent end to a pretty good run. I think the first arc, "Kingpin" was by far the strongest. The second arc, "Bullseye" was the weakest, and the third arc being in the middle. The final issue put the punctation mark on what will have to be remembered as one of Punisher's great runs. Not as good as Garth Ennis, but close.

Black Panther...another good end to a series.

Huntress...I was assuming this was the last book in the miniseries and was disappointed at the pacing, but there is one more book to go. The artwork is a step down. The villains are so-so, but overall I've enjoyed this outing for the Huntress, in large part because she doesn't get her fair shake in the Batbooks.

Penguin...a solid end to this miniseries. I'm not raving about it like some critics do. But still I thought it was a good attempt to make Penguin a deadlier foe.

Batman and Robin...we got more of Nobody's backstory here. I think he's a pretty interesting villain and I like how he has found a way to pull Damian away from Bruce. The final scene was great and has me ready to read the next installment. My main issue though is I wish they had come up with a better name than Nobody.

Mr. Terrific...the main villian had a cool power set, though a corny name (Tomorrow Thief) and the story or art overall weren't that great. What I did like was learning a little more about one of Michael Holt's loves. And hey, there aren't many comics dedicated to Valentine's Day.

Crimson Empire III...this Star Wars series is dragging. i was looking forward to it because the previous books had been about the last surviving Imperial Guard (the red guys from the films) out to get revenge for Emperor Palpatine's murder. Crimson Empire I was pretty good, part two was so-so, and thus far, this is the weakest entry in the saga. The cliffhanger wasn't bad, though not a surprise since it's Luke in danger (which I don't consider much a spoiler). For Star Wars fans, this story takes place about 13 years after Return of the Jedi (the New Republic Era). The initiated know that Luke is currently pushing 60 in the novel Legacy Era (and the comics and novels roughly share the same continuity), so it's a safe bet that he will survive.

GREEN LANTERN #6 - Still great.

POWERS #8 - Glad to have it back.  Pilgrim is now cree-py!

ACTION COMICS #6 - kinda followed it, mighty confusing...but still dug it!

ANIMAL MAN #6 - boldly writtens story...very well done.  Especially if it was a sort of fill in issue.

SECRET AVENGERS #22 - strong story and art.

FANTASTIC FOUR #602 - Man, could this story get bigger?  Love it. This is the scale the FF need to play on.

This is my problem with Morrison.  I liked his first few issues, but I'm just not a fan of this current storyline.  There are a few "different Morrisons" out there and I really prefer the straight up superhero stuff like in JLA.

WOLVERINE AND THE X MEN #6 - Wow, Jason Aaron keeps dragging me back to a book I kinda sort of don't want to read.  But he's just that good.

AVENGERS ACADEMY #26 - probably the best issue of this book ever.

UNCANNY X FORCE #22 - Still the premiere X title.

VOODOO #6 - Wow, I am still reading this book.  it's clever.

X MEN #25 - picked this up out of nowhere...strong cover did it.  Good story inside.

SUPERMAN #6 - I had dropped this, but the cover made me pick it up again.  Things are getting better in this series.

BATMAN: DARK KNIGHT #6 - good book!

ULTIMATE SPIDER MAN #7 - Far and away the best Spidey book on the shelf.  The process of discovery gives this book a huge advantage.

FANTASTIC FOUR #603 - This story ain't getting no smaller in scope.

Ultimate Spider-man 7;  the only thing that book needs is a better artist.

Some of the recent books I've read:

Marvel:

Ultimate Spider-Man #7: I agree with Kip, a better artist is needed. I don't think the current one is bad, however, there has been a steep drop in quality from the first arc. That first artist was just that good. The books looked beautiful inside and out. Now, it's not the same. As for the story, I thought it was good. They are moving things forward. I am curious to see if Miles will be facing any new villains and how he will deal with old Spider-Man villains.

New Avengers #21 & #22: I liked the battle with Ragnarok quite a bit in #21, but #22 was largely more talk than fighting (which wasn't how it was advertised). I really liked the first Dark Avengers and this group has promise, but I don't think enough focus has been placed on them, fleshing them out more, giving them the personalities or quirks that Bendis did with the first group. The artwork for both issues remained pretty good.

DC:

Justice League #5 & #6: I think this first arc petered out after starting pretty strong. Darkseid was poorly used. For someone of his stature they did a horrible job of introducing him as well as explaining his motivation. These books, particularly, the sixth are mainly about the artwork and I think the sixth was a bit lacking, which surprised me considering Jim Lee's involvement. I also thought Batman's unmasking in the fifth book, for no freaking reason, in an effort to 'inspire' Hal Jordan, in the middle of a battle, was totally stupid and didn't fit with the character at all. The sixth book sought to give Wonder Woman and Cyborg, and Aquaman to a lesser extent, some shine, but it just felt the battle with Darkseid was too rushed. He shouldn't have been used. One thing I do give Geoff Johns credit for is his making Hal into a jerk and being mild in his treatment with Batman. In the past, he's seemed to make Batman a jerk, but in JL, he's putting his boy Hal in that role.

I, Vampire #6: I thought this series continues to surprise. The artwork fits the dark subject matter well. I didn't like the idea of taking the story to Gotham but so far I think the story hasn't jumped the shark.

Aquaman #6: A much needed story focusing on Mera, but outside of the character development, not a lot happened.

Voodoo #5 & #6: This twist at the end of the fifth book definitely was unexpected and can send the series into an entirely new direction. With the sixth book, the fallout of the twist is just starting to be felt. I thought the sixth book was okay, but I do feel that Voodoo, and the other Wildstorm characters haven't been integrated well into the DCU yet. I wish they had just kept them in the Wildstorm universe.

X-Men #25: I always like seeing Storm in command, but I'm not a big fan of this writer's vampire obssession. Also not feeling Jubilee as a vamp. I hope they finally get around to restoring her mutant powers.

Ray #3: I'm not feeling the big bad, though he didn't come off as ridiculous as his introduction in the first book. I continue to like the artwork. And I like the character. I'm curious to see what DC is going to do with him after the miniseries ends.

Teen Titans #6: I picked this up because it guest starred Static. I think they made better use of him than in his own series. I think he's found a home with the Titans. Didn't care for the artwork or the villain Grymm. He talked too much, was over powered, and poorly conceived in terms of appearance. Something about him just screamed 90's kewl.

Others:

Invincible #89: The introduction, of sorts, of the black Invincible. The artwork was well done but I wish more focus had been placed on the new Invincible. I have to wonder how Kirkman will use this move to talk about race or legacy characters in comics. And I wonder how serious the switch will be. I'm certain it's temporary but I hope Kirkman does right by the new Invincible.

Star Wars Dark Times #4: The artwork is just gorgeous. I didn't think this particular issue pushed the storyline forward enough, considering it's the penultimate issue in this arc, but I still enjoyed it.

ANIMAL MAN #7 - What a great book!

ACTION COMICS #7 - Not a bad justification of Superman's uniform....I mean, it's still a stretch but better then Ma Kent unthreading the blanket and reweaving it into a super suit.

DEFENDERS #4 - This book gets better with each issue.  This is what a Dr. Strange book should read like.

STATIC SHOCK #7 - Most comprehensible issue yet.  Which is not the same as good....but I could follow it at least.

I like Justice League #5 & #6....Jim Lee's art surpasses the writing and maintains the epic tone....it felt like a major event throughout the story from the artist's ability to tell a story...it felt like this is the book you should be looking at now!  Jim Lee proves his mettle once again and provides some of the best action scenes in recent memory in a major comic book brand.

Aqua Man has been top notch for the first 6 issue run too.  Geoff Johns and Ivan Reiss are on a very good run here.....outstanding.

The Avengers #23 is ok....there's some build up but it's all about Norman Osborne and it's hard to fathom that Bendis brings on people like Storm and doesn't use them thoroughly....was it just to add some late tension to the pending Avengers v X men marketing ploy??????  Expected more...getting less.

Ultimate Spider Man is just one good comic right now.  The last 7 issues have all been one fine build up to a confrontation between the lead and his uncle...with good pacing, tone, character development and plot twists.

FANTASTIC FOUR #604 - This issue wraps up one of the greatest storylines in the history of the series.  Hickman is a beast.

ULTIMATE X MEN #9 - That rare thing, a good Storm story.

FRANKENSTEIN #7 - Love this book!

THIEF OF THIEVES #2 - Shawn is killing it on the art, and the story is also great!

ORCHID #5 - Still digging this book. Order it at reggiesworld.com!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #9 - Good super hero book. Alan Davis is one of the artists I'd most love to work with one day.

KICK ASS #7 - Satisfying ending.  Good the know the series will continue as Hit Girl.

SUPER CROOKS #1 - Good start.  Saw most of it in the preview.

SUPERBIA #1 - Great concept.  Definitely picking up the next one.

ULTIMATE SPIDER MAN #8 - Love the new Scorpion;  his personal stakes are getting really high.

IRON MAN #514 - Good book.  Very modern.

BATMAN #7 - Nice addition the Batman mythos and a needed new villain for the character.

MOON KNIGHT #10 - Wait, Echo is really dead?  Damn!

BPRD/HELL ON EARTH 2/3 - Wow, damn good issue.

AVENGERS #24 - The outcome isn't surprising, but well written and drawn.

JUSTICE LEAGUE #7 - love the idea of people wanting heroes to run the world.  But this book needs better villians.
