Griots
« on: November 19, 2010, 08:09:55 AM »
Just wanted to let y'all know I'm working on a sword and soul anthology with Charles R. Saunders entitled, Griots. We selected eleven stories we feel flesh out and expand the definition of sword and soul. Charles and I contributed stories as well, and each story will contain artwork. Own own Redjack is included in this anthology. Expect Griots to be available by summer 2011.

It's been a minute, but I've been busy. Empire building can be time consuming.  :) Anyway, I'm expecting to launch Griots in July. The manuscript is in the hands of the editor (yes, independent publishers do use editors...at least some of us do). Next up is typesetting and cover design. If you've been following our progress you've seen the cover art by Natiq Jalil. This will be a great book, no doubt. We're already planning the next sword and soul anthology entitled Griots II: Sisters of the Spear. These are exciting times.

I'll be picking this up!!! Eagerly wait for both Charles Saunder projects as well!  Were you at the ECBACC in Philly this year?

No Paul, I haven't made ECBACC yet. I hope to do so in the future. I'll be at Onyx Con in Atlanta in August and I'm scheduled to participate on a panel at DragonCon. I may have a table at the Harlem Book Fair next year but that's still up in the air. DragonCon is a definite go for 2012. I'm purchasing a table as soon as they become available.

Well, unfortunately there won't be a Griots in July. Editing took longer that I expected, even with a paid editor in the house. I'm submitting the manuscript for typesetting and also starting the cover art design.  I would love to have everything done by the end of next week so I can submit my materials to LSI. We'll see. We will have books by Onyx Con, so come out and make history!

Good news! Cover design is almost complete. Waiting on the typesetting to be completed so we'll have the page count and can calculate spine width. Here's a look: http://wagadu.ning.com/group/griotsaswordandsoulanthology/forum/topics/groits-cover-design
Once that's done the book will be off to LSI. Griots will be available in hardback, paperback and e-format. The e-format will not contain the interior illustrations.
