a win for childhood nutrition in America
« on: December 02, 2010, 05:06:36 pm »
from COUNCIL FOR A STRONG AMERICA:

Hi Reggie and Chrisette,

Just hours ago, Congress passed the most significant childhood nutrition legislation in more than 30 years! The bill provides $4.5 billion over 10 years to improve the quality of food served in schools and removes junk food from school cafeterias.

We are proud that Mission: Readiness played a lead role with other groups in moving this legislation forward. The Speaker of the House, the House Majority Leader, and the Chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee all cited our national security message on the House floor as a paramount reason to pass the bill.

General Speedy Martin, one of our four-star members, published a letter-to-the-editor in Cincinnati, the nearest media market to Republican Leader John Boehner's district. You can read General Martin's letter-to-the-editor here: http://cincinnati.com/blogs/letters/2010/12/01/the-crisis-of-childhood-obesity/

This is a huge win for the health and well being America's children. Thank you to our retired admirals and generals for lending their respected voices to this fight!

Best,

David
