Thousands of dead birds picked up in Ark. town

BEEBE, Ark. (AP) - Environmental service workers finished picking up the carcasses on Sunday of about 2,000 red-winged blackbirds that fell dead from the sky in a central Arkansas town.


The commission said that New Year's Eve revelers shooting off fireworks could have startled the birds from their roost and caused them to die from stress.

Robby King, a wildlife officer for the commission, collected about 65 dead birds, which will be sent for testing to the state Livestock and Poultry Commission lab and the National Wildlife Health Center lab in Madison, Wis.

Well, here's the problem...
Around the time of New Year's Eve, some inconsiderate M/Fers started launching fireworks all night into the weekend which terrifies birds and other small creatures. Around my way, we are unfortunate to have the same morons displaying the exact same reckless behavior. The worst that has happened is that the noise causes the birds to huddle in huge swarms. Swarms so large that they appear to look similar to clouds! I hate fireworks!

And it isn't just birds and fish; this summer, volcanos blanketed Europe and then snow in the winter, mudslides devastate California, rare mid-winter tornadoes in the midwest and flooding has drowned an area larger than Texas in Australia.  Obviously it is the end of the world.

Now, if flies blacked out the sun or locust swarm over land, we are in big trouble.

Okay, we've seen this movie before.  It feels like the first signs of an extinction level event, but we won't give a damn until 500 humans drop dead.  Unless they are in Africa or the Middle East, and even then we won't care. 

I mean, I'm sure there are people working on it, but so far the explainations feel as fishy as the spin on who killed that publicist in Beverly Hills. 

The funny thing is, the folks in denial of global warming will be in denial until the very end, and then they'll just chalk it up to the wrath of God.

I know!  People are joking about it....but it seriously looks like the end-of-days to me.  The earth is trying to shake us off, wildlife is committing suicide and in the news all they can talk about is some fake ass homeless dude with a "golden voice".  I'm sick.

I am in total agree w/ Ms Wandi and Mr. Hudlin.  I was curious and flipped channels to FOX news and there was this professor from CUNY (City University of New York) who dismissed the whole phenonmenom as ''Oh, this happens all the time. It just makes the news because we are now connected by the interweb. You can go home now, nothing to see here.'' 
If humans cannot live in harmony and balance with Earth's natural inhabitants by taking away thier space and polluting thier environment, then YES... that is indeed, the beginning of the end. ...Global warming is a very REAL occurrance as a result of a voracious human species.
