Democratic Donor Ed Buck Accused of Human Trafficking and Revenge Porn
by Tarpley Hitt

West Hollywood activist and Democratic donor Ed Buck, who came under fire after two black men died from crystal methamphetamine overdoses in his home within 18 months, now faces additional allegations of human trafficking and revenge porn, according to new documents filed in a wrongful death suit against Buck.

The new allegations concern an on-going case filed against Buck by LaTisha Nixon, the mother of Gemmel Moore, a 26-year-old black man who died in Buck’s West Hollywood apartment on July 27, 2017.

Moore, who lived in Harris County, Texas with his mother and siblings, had taken a flight from Houston earlier that day, and traveled straight to Buck’s apartment.

He died hours later.

Moore’s body was found beside “multiple syringes with brown residue, a scale, several lighters and torches, a straw with white residue and burn marks, plastic bags with whiter powdery residue and a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance,” according to the complaint and an autopsy report.

Buck’s attorney, Seymour Amster, has vigorously denied the charges in court documents, and refrained from speaking in depth about the latest allegations by phone.

“We will reserve our comment to our court filings,” Amster told The Daily Beast, “and we will be aggressively litigating this.”

Buck has 14 days after the amendment filing date of July 3, 2019 to respond in court.

Moore’s visit to Buck’s apartment was the most recent of several interactions between the two men.

According to the complaint, Buck had solicited Moore for sex multiple times, always insisting upon injecting Moore with crystal meth and requiring Moore to view “hardcore gay male pornography which played loudly on a large flatscreen television set,” while engaging in sex acts.

Moore had allegedly never used the drug before interacting with Buck.

In Moore’s last journal entry, dated December 3, 2016, he wrote, “If it didn’t hurt so bad, I’d kill myself, but I’ll let Ed Buck do it for now.”

The latest amendment added two charges to the 12-count civil complaint: human trafficking and distribution of private sexually explicit materials.

The added causes of action claim Buck “knowingly utilized interstate commerce for the purpose of recruiting, enticing and transporting” Moore from Texas to Los Angeles, for the purposes of “commercial sex acts.”

They claim Buck paid for Moore’s transportation and promised to pay Moore for his time.

The complaint also alleges Buck violated Moore’s right to privacy by distributing a sexually explicit video recording of him to one of several unnamed defendants in April of 2019.

According to Jasmyne Cannick, a Los Angeles journalist and advocate in Moore’s case, the revelation of the “revenge porn” allegation came after a series of interviews with other black men, who corroborated Moore’s story.

“Throughout the course of really almost two years now, I have had dozens of young men reach out to me with information, photos, videos, their receipts—literally and figuratively—on Ed Buck,” Cannick said.

“We amended this particular lawsuit to include human trafficking and revenge porn based off of very credible information that we received from other victims. I’m not going to give you an exact number, but it’s been at least a dozen.”

Following Moore’s death in 2017, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department opened an investigation into Moore’s death.

According to the complaint, the Sheriff’s department interviewed multiple black men who recounted similar experiences with Buck.

In July of 2018, District Attorney Jackie Lacey declined to file criminal charges against Buck.

The wrongful death suit also names Lacey and Hum as defendants for failure to prosecute.

In an earlier complaint, Nixon’s attorney had accused Lacey and Hum of violating Moore’s civil rights.

In the latest complaint, they amended the charge to racial discrimination.

They claim the attorney’s office sanctioned “deliberate indifference” to Fourteenth Amendment equality protections by “refusing to impartially prosecute white people for their felonious criminal acts against black victims.”

The District Attorney’s Office and Nixon’s lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The case was originally filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, but moved to federal court in May.

Moore was the first man to die in Buck’s home.

But in January, a 55-year-old man named Timothy Dean died under similar circumstances.

Dean, a West Hollywood resident and fashion consultant at Saks Fifth Avenue, had no prior history of drug abuse or alcoholism, according to the Los Angeles Times.

An autopsy report ruled Dean’s death an accidental drug overdose.

Following Dean’s death, activists held a press conference outside Buck’s West Hollywood home, and delivered a petition to D.A. Lacey demanding an investigation into the donor.

“We believe Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey and the Sheriff’s Department is not doing enough to look into the connections between the deaths of these two men,” the petition reads.

It got more than 30,000 signatures.

A Sheriff’s Department investigation into Dean’s death is on-going.

Moore’s attorneys have pointed to Buck’s long history of big dollar donations to prominent California politicians—including a $100 donation to District Attorney Lacey in 2012.

Lacey claims she returned the money, and denied allegations of preferential treatment.

“Nothing could be further from the truth,” Lacey said in an open letter from March.

“Every life, regardless of a person’s age, race, economic status and even whether they use illegal drugs, has value. If that life is lost because of the unlawful actions of another, rest assured that my office will do everything possible to bring the perpetrator to justice."

According to CBS Los Angeles, Buck’s largest donation to date involved a $300,000 gift to a California political action committee called Animal PAC, a group “formed to represent animal welfare interests throughout California.”

He also donated $1,400 to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti in 2016, $18,700 to former California state Senate leader Kevin de León across several campaigns, $19,400 to Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu, and $2,700 to Congressman Adam Schiff in 2016.

All claim to have returned the money or donated it to non-profits.

Between 2012 and 2016, Buck donated $12,500 to former West Hollywood Mayor John Duran. Duran was forced to resign his position earlier this spring, following multiple allegations of sexual assault from members of the Gay Men’s Chorus, including allegedly slipping his hand into the waistbands of two singers.

Duran apologized for his behavior, telling radio station KNX-AM (1070), “Let’s face it, I’m the only, I think, sexually active member of the City Council...That’s part of the price I pay for just being an out gay man in West Hollywood who’s very sexually active.”

Duran allegedly spent some of Buck’s money, and donated some to charity.

“For anyone that’s been following this, the behavior that Ed Buck participates in is behavior that hasn’t stopped,” Cannick said.

“That’s why someone else died at his house.”

Former Puerto Rico Education Secretary Arrested on Federal Corruption Charges
by AJ Vicens

Julia Keleher, the former Puerto Rico Secretary of Education assailed for pushing austerity and privatization measures after Hurricane Maria devastated the island, was arrested Wednesday morning, accused of illicitly steering hundreds of thousands of dollars in contracts to close associates in 2017.

Keleher was arrested in Washington, D.C., according to Noticel, which first reported the news.

Mother Jones could not immediately verify the precise location or means of Keleher’s arrest.

Keleher, a former consultant and US Department of Education program manager, was the Secretary of Education of Puerto Rico from January 2017 to April 2019, a term that started months after the hurricane wracked the island.

During her tenure she came under intense criticism on the island for her push to close hundreds of schools and fire staff amidst intense budget deficits, even as she earned about $20,000 per month in salary—roughly nine times what an average Puerto Rico teacher is paid.

White woman reportedly opens fire at Parkville License Office because line was moving too slowly
by KMBC (ABC News affiliate)

A woman was taken into custody after shots were fired outside the Parkville license office on Tuesday.

Kansas City police and Platte County sheriff's deputies were called at 11:20 a.m. to the office in the 6400 block of North Crosby.

Some witnesses told authorities that Vanessa Richey, 34, complained about the wait time.

“It was very crowded in there -- a lot of people,” said Tom Hutsler.

Minutes after Hutsler and his 12-year-old son got to the Parkville DMV in Kansas City, frustration over lines turned into fear of a shooting.

“She was cussing and upset with the staff there,” Hutsler said.

Police said Richey fired two shots from a handgun in the parking lot after getting frustrated inside.

“I’m so concerned for my staff and for the customers, ”said Terri Haris, who manages the DMV.

Haris said Richey walked to the counter and demanded a duplicate ID, saying it was a matter of national security and the president’s life was in danger.

Then she allegedly said, “What do I have to do, grab a gun?”

“I checked with the woman behind me and said, ‘Did she say what I thought she said? That doesn’t sound good,’” Hutsler said.

Hutsler said he followed Richey outside, that she grabbed a gun, fired it into an island in the parking lot and then he told her she wasn’t getting back inside.

That’s when he took his truck and pulled up behind her car, boxing her in.

“There were a lot of people inside. My son was inside and I wasn’t about to let her back in the building,” Hutsler said.

His son and others inside hid behind counters and in back rooms.

An off-duty officer confronted Richey outside.

While he shouted commands, Hutsler came from behind and tackled her.

“I’m not sure what would have happened if the off-duty officer had not been armed and had not been there,” Hutsler said.

“I’m still kind of shocked that it even happened. I know the DMV is always a frustrating place, but I didn’t think anyone would ever try to shoot up the place, cause danger to other people,” witness Molly Foster said.

The Sheriff’s Office said Richey is talking with investigators and is on a 24-hour hold.

Authorities said she will likely be charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

2 Teens Allegedly Faked Kidnapping in Georgia Mall to Gain YouTube Followers

by Harriet Sokmensuer

Two Georgia teens are facing felony charges after they allegedly staged an elaborate fake kidnapping to share on YouTube to gain more followers, PEOPLE confirms. "two teens"

On July 3 2019, Forsyth County deputies received multiple 911 calls reporting a possible abduction at a shopping mall, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Monday.

Witnesses reported seeing a teenager, later identified as Ava Coleman, 17, tied up with a covering over her head yelling for help from inside a Chevrolet Tahoe.

“He is going to kill me,” Coleman allegedly yelled, witnesses reported, according to the Forsyth County News.

The sheriff’s office sent eight patrol cars — more than half of the deputies in the south Forsyth County — to intercept the Tahoe and save the reported victim, A Facebook post from Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office states.

“For 20 straight minutes, we had deputies racing across Forsyth County to help this girl, thinking that this was a true abduction,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater said, the News reports.

“That’s unacceptable.”

The Tahoe was eventually stopped by an off duty Gwinnett County Police Officer who had heard about the lookout, the post states.

The driver of the SUV was identified as Christopher Kratzer, 19, and the reported victim as Coleman.

Authorities learned that Kratzer and Coleman were allegedly filming a kidnapping prank to gain more followers.

A follow up investigation found the prank had “falsely alarmed the public creating an apprehension and panic that caused members of the public to feel unsafe and to report it to law enforcement,” according to the post.

As a result, Kratzer and Coleman were charged with reckless conduct, a misdemeanor, and raising a false public alarm, a felony.

“If you want to create a social media following, I would strongly dissuade you from this stupidity,” Sheriff Ron Freeman said in the post.

“Good armed citizens might have been justified in using force to stop what they legitimately believed was a kidnapping.”

It is unclear whether Kratzer or Coleman have attorneys to comment on their behalf.

They have not entered pleas.

Delco dude to stand trial for first-degree murder of neighbor
by KYW News Radio

(Philly, Pa) - Any hopes of bail for the man who shot and killed a neighbor in Delaware County on Memorial Day Weekend, were dashed Friday, when a judge decided that man should stand trial on first-degree murder.

The lawyer for John Ballas argued first-degree murder charges against his client should be thrown out, as this is self defense and -- at worst for Ballas -- third degree murder.

Prosecutors argued it should be up to a jury, and the judge agreed, ordering Ballas to stand trial on all charges for shooting and killing Joe Iavarone.

Bail is not allowed for anyone charged with first-degree murder.

In the early morning hours of May 26 2019, police were already on their way to the row homes on Bishop Drive in Chester Heights responding to calls for a man who was yelling and breaking things.

The State Police corporal who got there first testified at Ballas' preliminary hearing, that Ballas was standing with his hands above his head, was cooperative, telling him he'd just shot a man and pointing out where where the gun was.

The corporal said Ballas said he thought he shot him in the torso, but the only gunshot wound was to the top of Ivarone's head.

Friends of Ivarone who were at the hearing say he was having personal problems.

He'd recently quit his job a gym teacher and coach at Garnet Valley high school.

They say it isn't hard to imagine him getting out of hand while drinking, he had a zest for life.

California police believe missing man stole airplane
by WCRA (NBC News affiliate)

Police investigating a small plane that was stolen out of a central California airport and vanished from radar last month say they believe the suspect is a missing man who was a member of a local flying club.

Watsonville police identified 64-year-old Huga Mar as the suspected thief, KGO-TV reported.

Police believe Mar crashed the plane.

Mar's family reported him missing since July 1 2019.

Mar has no history with police. "Because he's white..."

He was a licensed private pilot and a member of the Santa Cruz Flying Club, which owned the stolen plane, a single-engine Cessna.

The club operates out of the Watsonville Municipal Airport, about 20 miles from Santa Cruz.

The plane was reported stolen from the airport on June 27 2019, the day after video footage shows the airplane taxiing toward the runway.

The police do not have surveillance of Mar entering the plane and taking off.

Detectives found Mar's abandoned car at an airport parking lot used by pilots.

Federal investigators said the plane disappeared from radar about 3 miles out over the Pacific Ocean from the Santa Cruz coast.

The U.S. Coast Guard did find any wreckage or a body.

Mar was authorized to enter the airport and was a member in good standing who could have made a reservation to fly the aircraft, the club said on its website.

However, he didn't make a reservation, per club protocol, and ignored Federal Aviation Administration protocol to make radio calls at the time of departure.

The club said Mar's failure to follow procedures appears suspicious, but it declined to speculate on his mental state.

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family of the deceased," the club said.

Chess Player Caught Cheating Using His Phone While On The Toilet During A Tournament

by Gabe Fernandez

Latvian-Czech chess grandmaster Igors Rausis is reportedly under investigation after he was caught checking his phone while on the toilet in the middle of a tournament he was participating in.

Rausis signed a declaration stating that the phone that investigators eventually found in a toilet stall was in fact his, and was suspended from the tournament, according to a Fakebook post from FIDE Director General Emil Sutovsky.

The evidence found is apparently being sent to an ethics committee and the French police will be involved with what happens next as the tournament where Rausis was caught took place in Strasbourg.

Rausis told Chess dot com:
"I simply lost my mind yesterday. I confirmed the fact of using my phone during the game by written [statement]. What could I say more? Yes, I was tired after the morning game and all the Facebook activity of accusers also have a known impact. At least what I committed yesterday is a good lesson, not for me—I played my last game of chess already."

It’s not clear whether he’s specifically looking at a chess app, but it’s likely that the grandmaster will face a harsh penalty nonetheless given the attitude that FIDE has towards phones during tournaments.

Even being caught in possession of one during competition can lead to disqualification.

This suspension does add a wrinkle to Rausis’s unprecedented career, and opens the floodgates for even more reasonable doubt to spill in.

The Latvian-Czech grandmaster advanced to become a “super” grandmaster in the span of six years, which is a really quick turnaround for such a feat.

The challenge of raising one’s FIDE rating from 2500 (regular grandmaster) to 2700 (“super” grandmaster) in that timespan requires near-perfect play against every opponent.

Even more incredible is the fact that he reached this level in his 50s, which immediately caused some to question the sudden jump in success, particularly when he broke into the Top 100 and was the oldest player on that list.

“It’s amazing Rausis wasn’t stopped earlier. Seems naive that people think someone can improve that much in their fifties,” said grandmaster and ex-England player Danny Gormally.

Had Rausis not been caught today, there appears to be evidence that he might have been stopped sooner rather than later, as FIDE’s Fair Play Commission Secretary Yuri Garrett outlines in his own Fakebook post that the commission had been closely following Rausis for a while.

Though he doesn’t mention Rausis by name, it’s obvious that that is who he is referring to in the post.

Strangely enough, this isn’t even the first time cheating of this nature has happened—though the career implications were certainly not the same.
In 2015, a Georgian grandmaster was banned for three years and stripped of his grandmaster status when he too was caught cheating with a phone app on the toilet during a tournament.

Two escapees from 'doomsday preppers' in Florida claim they were abused for years

by Janelle Griffith

Two females who escaped from a North Florida farm belonging to a pair of "doomsday preppers" told police they were held captive and abused for years by the married couple.

Mirko Ceska, 58, and his wife, Regina, 55, were arrested Friday and booked into Wakulla County Jail on serious charges, including sexual battery and abuse, authorities announced Friday.

The couple had "exercised custodial responsibility" for the two individuals, the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office said, but their exact relationship was not disclosed.

The females, whose identities and ages were not disclosed, told police that the couple had "getaway properties" throughout the United States, stocked with food rations and weapons in the event of a major world disaster.

The females escaped the farm in Crawfordville, about 20 miles south of Tallahassee, on June 28 2019.

They told police they had been trained to raise livestock, shear sheep, operate a loom and grow fruits and vegetables on the property.

Their days began at 5:30 a.m., and they were prohibited from leaving the property or communicating with other people.

They told police they were "instructed to always look happy" and that if if they didn't smile, they would get punished.

If they refused orders, the Ceskas would beat them and restrict their food intake, the sheriff's office said.

The most recent beating was carried out by Mirko Ceska with a metal rod, the females said.

Detectives noticed marks and bruises on one of the female's back and arm.

Both females said Mirko Ceska would force sex acts upon them, at times with the support of his wife, according to police, who allegedly found evidence of an Internet search for "incestuous video" on his phone.

During a search of the residence, detectives found large quantities of food rations and survivalist items and seized dozens of high-quality firearms and "many cases of ammunition from throughout the house," the sheriff's office said.

Some of the firearms were hidden behind false walls or a staircase.

Police also recovered a homemade video depicting an altercation between Mirko Ceska and the two females, during which his face was very close to theirs and he screamed that they had stolen food.

Mirko Ceska was charged with sexual battery, sexual assault, abuse, and neglect.

Regina Ceska was charged with two counts each of neglect and failure to report abuse.

They are both still being held in custody and it is unclear if they have legal representation.

Former Pittsburgh firefighter arrested for allegedly holding woman hostage
by WTAE (ABC News affiliate)

A former Pittsburgh firefighter was arrested for allegedly holding a woman hostage inside his home in Brighton Heights on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a woman was calling for help from a second-floor window, saying that the man would not let her leave and that she had been assaulted.

Police used a ladder from a city firetruck to get to the woman and bring her to safety.

The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Marc Vrane, barricaded himself inside the home.

He made multiple threats of violence against police and was uncooperative.

WAT then gained entry into the home and took Vrane into custody on the third floor of the home.

Vrane faces multiple charges including aggravated assault, strangulation and making terroristic threats.

Officers also found drug paraphernalia in the house and are obtaining a search warrant.

The woman was treated at the scene for bruises and other injuries.

Vrane was taken to an area hospital for evaluation before being transported to the county jail.

Police have been to the home on Brandon Road before.

In 2011, Vrane was charged with attacking officers and paramedics who responded to the home for reports of an overdose.

Lawyer Explains What Led Client to Have Sex with His Daughter Amid ‘Jealous Competition’
by Matt Naham

A 40-year-old Nebraska man made headlines after it was alleged that he had sex with his daughter — who admitted that she and her half-sister were competing to see who could have sex with him first.

After a no contest plea and a jail sentence, Travis Fieldgrove‘s lawyer explained that his client is embarrassed by the situation and wished it never happened; the lawyer said Fieldgrove is not a “high functioning” individual, due to a past brain injury.

Fieldgrove, after initially being charged with felony incest, pleaded no contest to attempt charge, the Omaha World-Herald reported.

Fieldgrove was sentenced to two years in jail with credit for time served.

After Fieldgrove is released from jail, he will be supervised for a year; he may not contact his daughter-wife (not a typo), Samantha Kershner, 21.

Kershner previously admitted that “her motivation to have sex with her father stemmed from a jealous competition with her half sister regarding who could have sex with their father.”

The Kershner-Fieldgrove affair apparently began innocently enough three years ago, when Kershner asked her mother to tell her who her father was.

Kershner’s mom identified the man as Fieldgrove.

The two met and then had a father-daughter relationship for three years.

That changed in September 2018.

Although the two did not reveal exactly how their relationship turned sexual, they did admit to police they had sex on Sept. 10.

An unidentified individual called police with a tip about the incestuous relationship.

Remarkably, upon learning that they were under investigation, the two got married on Oct. 1:

Evidence leading up to the arrest suggests that Fieldgrove and (the daughter) were aware of the biological relationship before being intimate, and further indicates that they quickly married one another after being notified of the investigation.

Fieldgrove initially claimed that he was not Kersnher’s father.

He said that his name was not on her birth certificate.

He also said that a DNA test proved he was not the father, but police said that was not the case.

In fact, they said, the results indicated that there was a 99.999 percent chance Fieldgrove was Kershner’s biological father.

Drunken Dad Arrested After Allegedly Throwing 5-Year-Old Son Into Ocean to ‘Teach Him to Swim’

by Harriet Sokmensuer

A Florida father has been arrested after allegedly getting drunk and throwing his 5-year-old son into the ocean to “teach him to swim.”

On Monday night, a Daytona Beach police officer got a tip about an intoxicated man at the local pier.

According to local TV-station WESH, a former Georgia State Trooper on vacation with his family watched the man allegedly throw his son into the ocean, yell at him to swim and then proceed to leave him unattended while he jumped off the pier into the water.

“I said, ‘I can’t take this no more.’ So I went down to the pier, down to the shore and confronted him myself,” Mitch Brown told the station.

“The little kid was out here by himself. Completely by himself. There was nobody around him, no adults.”

Brown approached the man, John Bloodsworth, and brought him to a nearby Daytona police officer.

As Bloodsworth’s son was comforted by several people nearby, 37-year-old Bloodsworth told the officer he was trying to “teach him to swim,” according to a police report obtained by the Daytona Beach News-Journal and Fox13.

Witnesses told the officer the boy struggled to swim in the water, which was about four feet deep, and when he tried to swim towards his father on shore, Bloodsworth yelled at him to “go back.”

Bloodsworth also allegedly did back flips off the pier while his son struggled down below.

He allegedly told the officer he had consumed five beers before going to the beach.

As he was arrested, Bloodsworth didn’t show concern for his son, instead allegedly saying he was “going to jail for being awesome,” the report states.

Bloodsworth faces charges of aggravated abuse of a child, disorderly intoxication and swimming within 300 feet of the pier.

In addition to the charges, Bloodsworth was issued a trespass notice barring him from returning to the pier.

Officials issued the notice after Bloodsworth allegedly told them he wanted to continue jumping off the pier every day, but that next time he would go with his daughter.

The little boy is now with his mother.

On Tuesday, Bloodsworth was released from Volusia County Branch Jail after posting $1,500 bail.

Wrong-way driver ‘deliberately’ slammed into car, killing family of 3
by WLWT (NBC News Affiliate)

Prosecutors said a wrong-way driver who killed a family of three did so "intentionally" and "deliberately," accelerating before slamming into a vehicle on Interstate 75.

Abby Michaels, 21, has been indicted on six counts of murder, six counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of OVI in connection with a St. Patrick's Day crash in Moraine.

Investigators said Michaels' car hit a Toyota Camry head-on, killing a family of three that was inside.

Timmy Thompson, 51; Karen Thompson, 50; and their 10-year-old daughter Tessa Thompson were killed.

"The evidence shows there was no hesitancy at all and she was accelerating at the time that she ran head-on into this defenseless family," said Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck said.

Heck said Thursday that the crash was intentional.

"This was not an accident," he said.

"She knew what she wanted to do and what she wanted to accomplish."

The crash happened after Michaels left a Miamisburg bar, Heck said.

According to a police report, at the time of the crash, Michaels was "wearing a festive St. Patrick's Day shirt, multiple green, plastic shamrock necklaces and she had a temporary tattoo on her right cheek of an apparent beer mug."

The report also states that she had a frothy liquid coming from her mouth, which medics apparently identified as beer.

Authorities said blood alcohol testing results show Michaels was legally intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.099 at the time of the crash.

The legal limit in Ohio is 0.08.

"The evidence that we have so far shows that being under the influence was not a contributing factor in this," Heck said.

Heck said Michaels was dealing with a handful of personal issues at the time of the crash.

"The evidence that we have so far shows that she was upset and that she had talked about possibly doing this and that was her intent," Heck said.

Heck would not say if Michaels spoke specifically about killing someone else or herself.

According to court records, Michaels' husband filed for divorce two days prior to the deadly crash. "Hmmm-m-m..."

The Thompsons were from Mason, Ohio. Heck said the three were on their way home from vacation when the crash occurred.

White Man Accused of Raping 4-year-old at Oklahoma Fast Food Restaurant
by Lili Zheng

(MIDWEST CITY, Okla.) - Police are investigating after they say a man raped a four-year-old child at a McDonald's restaurant in Midwest City.

Joshua Kabatra, 37, was arrested this week and booked on two counts of rape and one count of lewd acts with a child.

The incident happened at a McDonalds along SE 15th Street in Midwest City.

"Daycare workers were from outside Midwest City. They brought their children to the play center of this restaurant and while they were inside the play area, a 4-year-old went to the restroom that’s apparently inside the play area," said Chief Brandon Clabes with the Midwest City Police Dept.

According to Chief Clabes, the day workers checked on the 4-year-old girl after about five minutes.

The door to the bathroom was locked and it took some time for someone to answer, Clabes said.

When Kabatra exited the bathroom, Clabes said he "raised his hands and said 'hey, I’m just washing my hands,'" and walked out.

However, when the daycare workers asked the little girl if anything happened inside the bathroom, she answered yes and pointed to her genital area.

Daycare workers immediately called 911.

"It’s just a horrific situation for any parent, a nightmare for any child and certainly for the daycare," Clabes said.

"At this point, there’s nothing indicating the daycare workers did anything wrong. They were supervising the children — the only person who did anything wrong is our suspect."

According to police, Kabatra has only been living in Oklahoma for a few months.

During an interview with police, we're told the suspect admitted to touching the child.

"We’ve never seen this individual before and we hope to never see him again," Clabes said.

"What we would encourage the public — look at his mugshot. If anybody feels like they’ve been a victim of this individual or their children has been a victim, have those conversations with your children and let us know. Contact our agency."

Rebecca Burand lives in Midwest City and said the entire situation was infuriating.

"I know it’s not their [McDonald's] fault, and the reason I know it’s not their fault is because pedophiles and molesters - they look like normal everyday people," Burand said."They do?"

Kabatra remains in custody at the Oklahoma County jail as today.
