Watch out for the Flying Anaconda

Hey!  He's one of the Astronauts I saw (and heard) on Tom Joyner Morning Show!  Great video, Ms. Wandi!

You're quite welcome.  He is pretty awesome.

Here's his buddy Alvin Drew that is on the STS-133 mission now.  Discovery docked at the International Space Station yesterday!
Today they are partying on the Mother Ship!  Watch the mission play-by-play here at: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/

Interesting...

Mr. Melvin used to be a pro football player before he became an astronaut...?  That's wild!

Here's a photo from the launch I found on the NASA website!

BLAST OFF!!!

My personal favorite... there is a shot like this in an episode of Voyager.

I've lost Artoo...  ...Artoo...?
Meanwhile, Back Onboard The Space Shuttle Discovery...
Is this The Droid You're looking For?

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla - According to The Huffington Post, The 220-mile-high unveiling of R2, the first humanoid robot in space, is being moved up at the urging of the president of the United States.

Robonaut 2, better known as R2, flew to the International Space Station aboard Discovery and will stay behind when the shuttle leaves Monday. In a phone call to the two crews Thursday, President Barack Obama teased the astronauts for waiting to unpack the robot, urging them to "let him stretch his legs pretty soon."

R2 seemed to like the idea. "I think he gave them some great advice about me," the robot said in a Twitter update posted Friday by a human colleague.

NASA managers initially wanted to wait a couple of months before getting R2 out. But now Discovery is spending two extra days at the orbiting outpost so its crew can help unpack a new storage unit.

Wow... :)

They've finally done it...   A useful, humanoid robot that can actually work.  I think I'll go get that '2001' dvd  I saw in the bargain bin now!

So far, so good...

The space shuttle Discovery as seen from the International Space Station as the two orbital spacecraft accomplish their relative separation on Monday,  March 7.

As I understand it, the Shuttle should be arriving back to Earth tomorrow.

Another wake-up call this morning for the crew of the space shuttle Discovery by Big Head Todd & The Monsters playing *Live* from Mission Control.
