In regards to Static, why couldnt they use at least the suit from the animated series?

As for Batwing, I commend the "attempt" but honestly so far I am reading "at least DC is trying" That is bullsh*t. Why couldn't nightrunner get an ongoing? At least he had a few more appearances (2 but still more than Batwing). Yes one can say "why not have both" but honestly you just dont shoehorn a brand new character out of your ass and expect the ongoing to succeed.

The rest I can care less since I don't read D.C. due to the multiverse crap (I did enjoyed 52 however). Infinite Crisis was my first and last purchase from D.C comics.

Actually Batwing isn't a new Black hero;  one version in Batman 250 and another appeared with Huntress in a back up story in Wonder Woman during 70s/80s time.  That one had the best costume of the three.

That guy was called "Blackwing".  :-\

Ah you're right; Batwing was only in "the Batman Nobody Knows."  Blackwing still has the best costume of the three.

I'm just glad they didn't go with that name for the new guy

I don't think Batwing is much better, but maybe because to me Nightwing is the superior name, so it makes Batwing seem redundant.

At least they didn't name him Hotwing or Chickenwing.

I do wish he had another name, not as derivative of Batman, or his suit. I wish his look was a bit more independent of Batman. Though I can see how they wanted him to derivative of Batman visually in an attempt to bring Batfans to the book.

Actually, the fictional character known as Batwings appeared in that story, not him.

By creating a second and third generation version of the main heroes you have the readership choosing sides. But the classics always win out. So the John Stewart, Kyle Rayners, Wally Wests, Ryan Chois and Connor Hawkes get either killed off or shunted into the background so that Hal Jordan, Ray Palmer and company can be relevent. Its supposed to be a coincidence that this often involves a character of color getting written out in favor of an older White character.

It sounds like Jim Lee confirmed yesterday that the Atom in the Justice League will be Ryan Choi.

Didn't know if I should start a separate thread to talk about Justice League #1 or just keep this one going.
I checked out JL #1. The artwork was good, but the story didn't knock it out the park. Spoilers below...

It introduced Batman, Green Lantern, and a pre-accident Vic Stone, and it also set up Darkseid as the Big Bad. The new armored Superman showed up at the end.

Also checked out Flashpoint #5. I thought it was a pretty meh ending, though the artwork was good and it at least focused on the Flash, who was supposed to be the main character of the whole thing. None of the side stories were really wrapped up, satisfactorily at least.

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE

Men of War, Mister Terrific, O.M.A.C., Hawk and Dove, Blackhawks and Static Shock all canceled
