Does Storm need a new hairstyle?
« on: November 19, 2006, 11:56:32 pm »
It seems like Storm has had the long hair look forever. I remember in the eighties where she styled her hair in mohawk. What would be a good hairstyle for Storm?

Anything but the mohawk. I guess there's nothing wrong with a change at some point, though.

I say big white afro.

I seem to remember reading someplace that a woman's hair is her glory. Something like that.

Ororo's mane is glorious. So, in keeping with the Season...I'll say:

there's nothing about Ororo that is "frightful".
And her hair is so "delightful".
Not a strand of that hair should go.
Let it flow. Let it flow. Let if flow.

based on the old Christmastime standard, "Let it Snow"

Yep, it's corny. But no one knows what I look like or where I live, so I can get away with actin' a fool  :D
Mr. MajestiK, I like your style. You are the wiser, calmer, more articulate second coming of sinjection to "that other place". You do me proud.

Remember when she wore the braids and some could not draw that...remember the mohawk too and the dramatic costume change and prefer her hair long...Ororo actually means "beauty".

Can people with bone straight hair wears Afros? Wouldn't someone be accused of "not respecting continuity" (wouldn't it be revisionist?) if they started drawing Ororo with kinky hair?

She should braid it again (some body will draw it right eventually). Wear a pageboy cut. Or lock it white reggae fan style.

I seem to remember reading someplace that a woman's hair is her glory. Something like that.

You might be thinking of some of 1 Corinthians, specifically 1 Corinthians 11: 5-6 (New International Version):

5 And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved. 6 If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.

Or 1 Corinthians 11: 13-15:

13 Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? 14 Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, 15 but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering.

Or some secular (commercial?) permutation of it. People have been misappropriating this to tell people what to do with their heads for quite awhile...

She hit herself in the head with a lightning bolt, et voila! Static-powered afro fro days!

What Storm really needs is her own series. That would be great.

Off topic, but true. With her own series, her look could change from arc to arc at the whim of the writer and artist. Would that screw with merchandising?

In Storm's Costume, KIP LEWIS joked that Storm's had more different costumes than the Wasp (I'd say as she's had as many as the She-Hulk). With a series, Ororo could wear different suits on different missions...and an Afro wig like the original Black Lightning to go undercove--okay, I'll stop now.

Hmm. African. Evocative of atmospheric conditions/natural phenomena. Under-exposed. Not a bad idea.
