60's TV shows: GREEN HORNET or BATMAN?
« on: July 12, 2011, 02:08:40 pm »
Both had a lot of iconic imagery, memorable theme songs, campy fun...and a memorable cross over between the two.  But which is your favorite?

As an adult looking back, you want to say, "Come on, one had Bruce Lee and the other one didn't."

But as a kid, I remember dropping whatever I was doing to watch Batman.

Green Hornet had Bruce Lee. Batman had Eartha Kitt. Tough choice.

Batman only because I've never really seen the Green Hornet. There was a marathon on cable when the movie came out but I had to leave. From what I saw it looked cool though, I dig the car.

I've never seen the Green Hornet myself... The local station here used to play old Batman show about 5 PM after school. I remember the POW, WHAM, comic effects that flashed across the screen. Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel.

HA!

I don't recall ever seeing the Green Hornet.  However, I Do remember digging Batman's theme music so much that my Mom bought me the album!

Batman.

I never saw the Green Hornet show, and remember them mainly for their crossover on Batman's show. That was awesome. Only caught a little of the Green Hornet show when SyFy did a marathon right before the movie came out. It didn't look bad.

Batman.

I grew up seeing the Batman reruns on a recurring basis.  Green Hornet, not so much.  I guess since GH only lasted one season, it was not nearly in syndication as much, depending on where you lived.  Obviously, GH, is, in retrospect, the more "adult themed" show, without all the camp.  But obviously the Batman show stands on its own merits with the camp which was true enough to the comics of the time.  Too bad it didn't last another season- we could have gotten more of Eartha Kitt Catwoman, maybe some more silver age villains..

I just wish that both were on home video.  Wait.. is Green Hornet on dvd?  I know that the Batman show is tied up in legal limbo, which bites..

The mere fact it lasted just one season is a crime against humanity and every single thing cool in the universe.
