Just bought that for my brother... was tempted to keep it for myself though. Diggin' that Imagine joint with Dre and D'Angelo.

I'm listening to Shareefa - Point Of No Return album right now.

"The Very Best of Oleta Adams" ....saw her live in Chicago 3 years ago w/Peabo Bryson, Jody Watley and Jon Secada and she is phenomenal.  So underrated...one of the best voices of my generation (right behind Phyllis Hyman).  And she plays many of her own instruments.....

Also, "Fabrica de Nueva York" by the Nyorican Soul Orchestra with production by Masters at Work...Brazilian jazz, soul and r&b...with performances by Jocelyn Brown, George Benson, Roy Ayers and India...an opus of musical tastes.

Rakim "The 18th Letter" ......a rap GOD.

Birth of the Cool -- Miles Davis
Way old-school

BTW, great selections Stanley.  I think highly of Oleta Adams, too.

I has birth of the cool before it was stolen. Strangely I thought I had to work harder to "feel it" then I did with bitches brew. I popped bitches brew right in and was like wow. Even Aura wasn't the challenge that birth of the cool was. I will pick it up again and try harder to get the nuances and such to see if it can hit me differently again. I just noticed that I noticed that his usual patience and clarity wasn't there like kind of blue, that cd is almost like rnb of today.

I can understand that, blue.  The things is The Birth of the Cool really is the birth of the cool.  It's the beginning of that style and it isn't quite fully formed.  It is radical compared to what came before.  Kind of Blue is a masterpiece of modal jazz whereas BOTC is an exploration of a new direction.  Maybe Lion can speak on it.

this link could have been under any JB thread but I wanted to place it here:

http://www.allhiphop.com/reviews/?ID=1077

just click on the JB original song link to enjoy what JB created for us to listen and what hip hop took and made music for us to jam to.
