Under The Cherry Moon could've been waaayyy better. I've heard UTCM was a spin-off from another film? Maybe, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels ( Steve Martin & Michael Caine)? Yep, excellent soundtrack. The Purple One (r.i.p.).

Speaking of soundtracks... here are some of the best soundtrack instrumentals!

Yoko Kanno/ Seatbelts - Cowboy Bebop OST 1 - "Space Lion" (1998) Yes, 'Cowboy Bebop' the anime series!
wait for it...

Ok, this is my third (Japanese hip-hop-jazz producer) D.J. Nubajes post! "Aruarian Dance" from the 2004 'Samurai Champloo' Soundtrack. Yes, the anime series, too!

Aruarian Dance (guitar cover)

superb cover! Nubajes (r.i.p.)

D.J. Deckstream ft. Junji Chiba- "Creeper" (2012)  hip-hop-jazz at its finest!
wait for it...

D.J. Deckstream (r.i.p.)
remembering the greats! Word!

Big-Ups to RH & all the artists at the Black Movie Soundtrack at the Hollywood Bowl! If you've never been to the Hollywood Bowl... now you've got a good reason to go!

On this actual web site
Someone started a thread on Rap
Basically, of all the songs that changed Rap
It had to be a White Boy: "Alone Again...Naturally"
The White Boy, Gilbert O'Sullivan had 'ended' Sampling
"Alone Again" was a childhood favorite and I listened again
But there on YouTube, off to the side I saw other songs from him
There was one song in particular I discovered, his first hit, in England
Now I blow Karaoke crowds away with a song they never heard in their life

Gilbert O'Sullivan- "Nothing Rhymed"
"nothing older than time. nothing sweeter than wine..." Geez-us! What a gem! Great melody & folk-like tune. A must listen or highly recommended. The HEF would love to hear "Karaoke Tanksleyd"! right-on!

HIP HOP DON'T STOP!

the new rookie hip-hop-bunch gets a lot of criticism. some of it is well deserved. still, I'm thrilled with a few stand out artists.

Jeezy - "All There" ft. Bankroll Fresh (2016) Jeezy is a vet but still trap rappin @ the top of his game

Kodak Black has to be one of my favorite rookies. He's country AF but I dig his style & lyricism! he leads the pack IMO

French Montana - Lockjaw ft. Kodak Black (2016)

Coach Ta' Nehisi Coates used the phrase "LIT" in the BP comic. well, it's about to get real LIT for 10 stacks

Dj Scream -"Lit" Feat. 21 Savage, Juicy J & Young Dolph (2016) 21-21-21 Savage is a favorite but I kinda feel the criticism he gets.

Chief Keef -"Faneto" (2016) Danm this song goes hard! I wish I had dreads...

Speaking of soundtracks...

Another great Disney Princess film & villain song. Jemaine Clement as Tamatoa "Shiny"

In addition to having a groundbreaking TV series, Donald Glover somehow made a Funkadelic album. I'm loving Awaken My Love.

Horrible movie, excellent soundtrack

At this point I'm not in the mood to launch a defense of UTCM beyond saying it wasn't a good movie, but it was a very entertaining one. My favorite song on the soundtrack is New Position, followed by AnotherLoverHoleInYourHead and the 12" remix to Mountains is truly phenomenal.

Right now I'm listening to both Future albums as my brain cells die, HNDRX is by far the better of the two. Big Sean's "I Decided" is dope but not as cohesive and epic as his last project. Starlito and Don Trip are giving me old school Southern Hip-Hop reminiscent of Goodie Mob. Migos' Culture album is frankly beneath me but some songs bump. The New Edition movie made me have to put "Holding On" on a cd to play in the benz, I followed it with LTD's Love Ballad, all my favorite DeBarge and Shalamar songs, the live version of Con Funk Shun's Love's Train, then Dru Hill's cover and Make Me Say It Again Girl by the Isley Brothers and then Caravan of Love because it's springtime and that song makes me happy.

My current favorite song is B.E.D. Part II - by Jaquees featuring Quavo and Ty Dolla Sign. I like it so much I downloaded Jacquees' "Mood" mixtape to get Part I and messed around and enjoyed the whole thing. As soon as I thought today's kids don't know how to make trill R&B he surprised me.

In Philly I call it "DAS music" for WDAS radio
Back in my 1960's world, my cousins played it all the time
I NEVER liked a certain gritty/raw Black music that was a core of a culture I love
Yet Paul McCartney, he gets it, pointing out Stevie Wonder's version of "We Can Work It Out"
Even though I 'like' Stevie's version, McCartney also pointed out Wilson Piclett's "Hey Jude" that I NEVER liked
