Solid studio production. Strong lyrics.  Fun song.

Sorry to hear about the lead singer's passing...

An amazing cover of another classic!

Would you believe the intro to "Linger" is the main draw; the guitar solo begins then there's another music track that cross fades into the chorus.   It's a nice touch.  :)

A true GQ story (as told to me).  :)

A few years ago,  met a brutha from New Jersey who decided to move Down South w/his wife and newborn grandson   'cause of all the deaths from gun violence on his block being ultra cautious about becoming the next victim.

Back in the late 70s , he was moonlighting as a DJ and he was telling me a story about all the local talent that relied on all of the DJs to play their... what the industry used to call 'DJ sample'... record companies used to require their talent to cut a disc and try the song in the clubs and disco to see how dancers and listeners react to it before radio play.

This dude knew GQ before they became famous with the hit, "I Do Love You " JRCarter posted here at HEF. If you observe the album cover you'd see that, back in th' day, it was very fashionable to dress as a gentleman and a lady.

Anyone remember music groups like CHIC and the Whispers album covers?

The guys managing GQ and even some of the group members used to hustle*  in Harlem and the Bronx to finance their studio sessions and pay off DJs who would play their record in the clubs where if you were fortunate enough to see them in action, no one would recognize them in street clothes. It's fascinating that story comes to mind every time this song plays today.

I downloaded the Black Panther soundtrack a week before the film came out and had a chance to make friends with it. Favorite song is "The Ways" by Khaled and Swae Lee, followed by "X", "All the Stars" and "Seasons". I love the project but it doesn't bang hard enough for me, so I added the Black Lightning theme song "Godholly", "B.O.B." by Outkast, the "Ante Up" remix, "Judgement Day" by Method Man and the explicit video version of "Triumph" by the Wu, complete with sound effects.

I'm on Migos' Culture II  for mindless catchiness, Drake's "God's Plan", Dave East's "Paranoia 2" and Pandora's Lil Uzi Vert, Tory Lanez, Travis Scott and Playboi Carti stations for mumble rap when I walk my dog.

Looking at that Regina Belle video, it's hard to believe that Gregory Hines passed away.

Mr. Hines' daughter attended SVA in the late 80s when I was there and she possessed all of her father's features. :)
