Grammy Tribute
« on: February 12, 2012, 08:57:06 PM »
It's possible I missed their names, but during the tribute segment did anyone catch a mention of Don Cornelius, David Peastson or Clare Fischer?

I don't expect them to catch everybody, but I thought Don Cornelius would be a sure thing. (Again, I could have missed the names)

Cornelius was not mentioned in the main "in memoriam" segment, but after the next commercial break, I saw LL and Questlove together, and LL talked about Don Cornelius for about 30 seconds, segueing into Questlove who introduced the dance-music showcase, including David Guetta, DeadMaus, and Foo Fighters..

Hype's right...
However, for a minute there during the introduction into the next segment, I thought LL and QuestLove surrounded by all of those young people was the set-up for a Soul Train line dance! :D
---BUT, no. >:(

Another wasted opportunity. :(

That's a ridiculous oversight.

After reading that article from The Hollywood Reporter, I'm like,

"Hmph..."

I did notice that both were not included in the  main "in memoriam" segment, however, I am uncertain that  the Alicia Keyes & Bonnie Raite's tribute performance acknowledging Ms. James and that LL & QuestLove giving mention of Don Cornelious was done with disregard.  I think the oversight may have revealed that the show was directed and handled unprofessionally [read: incompetent], if anything.

I still think LL & QuestLove's Don Cornelious tribute should have segued into a Soul Train line dance! :D
