RIP - Jamaa Fanaka

I had no idea that Penitentiary was an independent film. Growing up I had no idea what that meant, I just remember seeing brown faces on
the TV screen in commercials and that was good to see. Now older I can understand and appreciate an independent spirit and the brown faces.

RIP Mr. Fanaka

I appreciate this quote from the article:
Quote
What "Penitentiary" says, Fanaka told The Times in 1980, "is that no matter what kind of situation one is confronted with, within each of us is the wherewithal to triumph."

I'm curious...

Didn't Jayne Kennedy star in the Penitentiary series?

Oh, o.k... :-\

I did see her as a guest on the Monique Show a year ago promoting her latest book on rare antiquities.  She looks quite different.

EDIT:  No no no...  Let me correct that.  It wasn't the Monique Show that I saw Jayne Kennedy on.  It was some other show I think hosted by Sinbad.
