From the article:
Quote
One could look no further than the history books than to see where the dividing factor between African-Americans of a light complexion and those of a brown or darker complexion began.  In an article written by Hazel Trice Edney, in the Louisiana Weekly about prejudice against light skinned persons, the author discusses the source of this divide.

Pointless arguement.
How do we know it's not the other way around?

"We" don't, if we want to question the integrity of a Award-winning Black Press veteran journalist. Unless shown otherwise, I'm going to trust that she did her job and reported the facts.

If you really  wanted to know 'the facts' about that whole light-skin/dark skin thing, all  you have to do is read into the history of this country [read: colonialism].  I didn't even read the article and I can tell it is nothing more than  "she called me a name!!!" stuff.
The journalist's credentials in the article you posted doesn't change the issue in this thread which is that Japanese companies have a long history of discriminating against blacks in America.  Those are the facts and a lot of times they are surprised to discover the mistakes they have made in thier business decisions believing they were 'doing the right thing' instead of doing thier research.

Ahhh, well so have/do the American Car companies that you support, or do you plan to stop buy their products as well? Don't forget to boycott Hollywood movies, as well, their racism against Blacks has become an artform. This seems to be a Anti-Japanese thing, more than anything else. Wonder if racist American Honda(Acura), employs any dark skin Blacks? You want to slam against the ENTIRE company because of one or two individuals in the ad casting department, then that's your right. Similar to some blaming President Obama for the actions of a few unprofessional Secret Service agents. His WHOLE Administration is corrupt, right?

I'm curious...

Exactly, how far do you want to derail the topic?

I thought this was about ONE company's ad.

But, I'll play along:
"Acura didn't want actor "too dark" for Seinfeld car ad"
To which I reply:
So what, we do that and worse to ourselves all the time. Let's stop making mountains out of NOhills

Are we back on the "tracks" now?

Now, now.
I'm not even sure what the argument is about here.
