Sen. Kennedy Saw Worth In Our PERSON
Senator Edward M. Kennedy was a person of great wealth and influence,
but much of his political energy was expended fighting for those
farthest removed from his "Camelot." He respected the poorest and
least powerful Americans for the constitutional legitimacy of their
PERSON. By "person" I mean those individual endowments of humanity
bestowed by the Creator and cited in the Declaration of Independence.
Although born a PERSON OF PRIVILEGE, Ted Kennedy respected and
championed the PRIVILEGE OF PERSON. He believed that all Americans,
by virtue of their PERSON alone, deserve a fair (and realistic)
chance at the American Dream.
Who dares to lift up his standard and bear it in the battles he
fought, valiantly and literally, "…in sickness and in health…?"
